I adjusted the panel shadow a little. Still trying to figure out how to actually create a panel shadow, but I'm learning :D

because I always find that KDE is more resource hungry compared to Gnome but I might be wrong... besides thats my observation .

What version of kde did you try last? cause now 4.8.4 uses the same as when I was using gnome.

That may be different for everyone but when I first log in. I am using around 500MB. It depends on what services you have running and the distro as well.

wowwwwwww of all of your desktops this is my favourite! :D
// i speak little english, so i try to make a question for you xD
i like kwin button (it's a plasma widget that but window buttons in that applet) so i combine it with appmenu :D. to when i maximize a window the titlebar desapear and window buttons and go to the panel :D (this give more screen space :D) but i try put (or make xD) a plasma theme that looks equals or good integrated with bespin so that the panel be one with bespin style xD here is a link to explain with a picture to explain better what i say :D (this cap it's a bit old in this i haven't bespin because at this time i didn't knew it xD, but you can see that i can't integrate the panel style with window style :(, that's becuase the shadow behind the panel and i can't find any plasma theme that be equals to a bespin theme (maybe i can learn how to do my own panel xD)) [link] so you know any tip to help me? :D
